The Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS) is continuing distribution of relief assistance to widows, orphans of war and most depressed sector of society and on duty Mujahideens which is sponsored and donated by Honorable Member of Parliament MP Bai Maleiha B. Candao. Her intent then was to distribute same to beneficiaries during Ramadhan but due to some technical constraints, it is just realized recently from June 6 – 9, 2020.

The assistance was distributed to around seventy (70) households’ beneficiaries in the Barangays and Villages of Crossing Simuay, Darapanan, Olas, Nekitan and Dalumangcob in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao. Other recipients are Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) coming from Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat affected by recent skirmishes in the area.

The recipients are identified as most vulnerable sector of the Bangsamoro society. The beneficiaries are one in thanking MP Candao for the continuing reached out and assistance to her constituencies in this time of crisis brought about by the campaign against spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The delay was blessing in disguise and welcomed by many recipients as it is timely since assistance from different sources is now dwindling due to the declaration of many areas under “Modified General Community Quarantines” where economic activity resumed and people are free to move around with some limitations.

The distribution was spearheaded by Mohamad Omar and Ms Marivic Calubia, CBCS Project Officer and Disbursing Officer respectively. The assistance consisted of a 10-kilograms of rice’s distribution took sometimes since each item was brought to the beneficiaries’ respective houses to avoid crowding and in compliance to social distancing protocol. There were also some difficulties in tracing the whereabouts of the targeted beneficiaries which will give lessons to both government agencies and humanitarian groups to endeavor on more comprehensive listing of the most vulnerable sector of society for they deserved to be prioritized in every assistance and developmental endeavors.

In like manner, CBCS Management is one with the beneficiaries in lauding MP Bai Maleiha Candao in her relentless effort and program to serve the “Dignified Poor Bangsamoro”.
