Key leaders of several departments under the then Office of the Vice Chairman for Political Affairs, Central Committee of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) started their meeting on August 10, 2024 held at Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
The meeting is aimed at preparation for the proposed first ever grand reunion of the personalities under the
different departments, groups or individuals who played various roles under the former Office of the Vice Chairman for Political Affairs of the MILF coming from the areas of South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and the Cities of General Santos City and Koronadal or more popularly called SOCSKSARGEN areas.
The event envisions to bring together all those who were involved in various capacities and responsibilities in the promotion of Jihad fiy sabiylillah during the time of the late Vice Chairman Ghazali Jaafar (Allahu Yarhamu). The groups decision to pursue the reunion was triggered by the fact that these groups have had rare time to connect nor any opportunity to share views and issues together since the death of the Vice Chairman on March 13, 2019 an occurrence that never happened during their more than four decades of companionship.
In a way, the activity is to foster and relive the camaraderie, share values, knowledge and principles and the legacies left by the late Vice Chairman to all his colleagues in the Bangsamoro struggle. It was clarified, less the activity will be misconstrued that has connection with the upcoming 2025 election, a matter that would strictly be avoided in the whole of the affair.
The organizers emphasized further that:“that the reunion will be free of political influences, amidst the approaching 2025 elections. This is the reason why the event will be held outside the BARMM areas and on the date not later than December 2024.”
