In its effort and preparation to disseminate and boost voters’ awareness on the approaching National Election on May 2025, the Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society have participated in the Inception Workshop for the Project for Raising Voters’ Awareness and Promoting Digitalization of Electoral Process in Bangsamoro on October 29-30, 2024 at Hall 3, Alnor Mall in Cotabato City.
The workshop was initiated by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Cotabato chapter, headed by Winston Camariῆas. And attended by different participants from Civil Society Organizations, Academe and other election-related personnel from different sectors in the region. During the activity, Camariῆas stated that voters’ awareness should primarily circulate to the community for the needs of increasing and fostering the information to every citizen in the society about the election, specifically on the Electoral Process in Bangsamoro region.
Atty. Rey Sumalipao, the Director of Bangsamoro Elections office, was also present in the said activity. Where he shared his advocacies, expertise and insights on the electoral process in the region. He further encouraged everyone to be vigilant and be a part of a clean, fair and honest election in the country. Michio Suda, the first secretary, embassy of Japan in the Philippines also partaken and graced the activity by sharing his thoughts and assessments on the election in the country and he also said that the embassy is ready to provide assistance to the region in order to promote peace and security for achieving fair elections in the Philippines.
The said activity aimed to collect, exchanged and share essential responsiveness for raising voters’ awareness to promote digitalization on Electoral processes in Bangsamoro for the incoming National elections specifically, in the BARMM region.
The activity included the Enhanced Voter Education where discussions on the subject matter were opened and the participants have shared their ideals and observations on the incoming elections, to further broaden the knowledge of every citizen in the processes of election during the casting of votes.
Moreover, issue mapping was discussed where the initiatives on the issues matter the most in voters’ education were talked about and participants have widened their knowledge towards the topic by exchanging ideas on the subject matter. Lightning presentation on ongoing efforts for voters’ education was also deliberated.
On the other hand, strategical alignment workshop and Analytical for Electoral inclusion thru idealization and the advocacy materials were also conferred and sharing of concepts was initiated as well as the exchanging of opinions was done during the reporting process of the participants of which further increased and improved their awareness on the said topic.
The participants went home with newly acquired learning and experience, not only on how to cast their votes wisely and correctly, but they also gained more information regarding on the digitalization of the electoral processes in the Bangsamoro and on how to become a catalyst for a clean and honest election towards the positive and developmental change for the betterment of the region.
