The Department of Interior and Local Government Regional Office IX awarded local government units and its partner organizations in its jurisdictions under the leadership of DILG Regional Director IX Paisal O. Abutazil, CESO III. The affair was undertaken at Orchids Garden Convention Hall in Zamboanga City on October 25, 2023.

In this regard, DILG Regional Office IX established the “LAYAG AWARDS for Governance Accelerators” in recognition of the services, programs and initiatives for good governance from Barangay, Municipal and Provincial level.

Also given recognition are their partners outside of the governmental instrumentality, such as civil society organizations that have contributions in the promotion of good governance in the Zamboanga Peninsula which is the coverage area of the DILG Regional Office No. IX.

It is in the above category where Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS)was among the three awardees given recognition during the Awards Night. The Plaque of Appreciation was received by Mr. Ismael Kulat and Ms Mohaiya Pua in behalf of CBCS Chairman Guiamel Alim who was not able to come due to equally important previous commitment.

The award was made possible through the efforts exerted by Mohaiya Pua as the Cluster Area Coordinator of Transparent, Accountable and Participative Governance (TAP-G) project in working closely with the provincial governments of Zamboanga del sur, Zamboanga Sibugay and the cities of Pagadian and Ipil. The project is supported by MISEREOR, an International Non-Government Organization based in Germany.

With this recognition and award, CBCS is committed to continue and strengthen its advocacy for Good Governance, Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion not only in Zamboanga Peninsula but throughout its Ten Cluster Areas of Operation in Mindanao. In fact, this year it expanded its operation in Iligan City with the municipalities under Lanao del Norte province. Also to start in November 2023 is the engagement for same advocacy concern for the Samboangan Cluster covering the City of Zamboanga and nearby municipalities of Zamboanga del Norte.
